Privacy Policy
Med Scan is designed as a local-only app. It helps you scan and organize prescription images on your Android device. The app does not require an account, does not use a backend server, and does not sync your scans to the cloud.
Information You Provide
Med Scan may store the following information that you enter into the app:
- Family member names, nicknames, relationships, dates of birth, email addresses, and avatar preferences.
- Prescription scan titles and optional scan details.
- Your onboarding name, used to personalize the home screen greeting.
Prescription Images and Local Files
When you scan prescriptions, Med Scan saves the resulting page images as local PNG files on your device. These files are stored in local device storage and are associated with the family member and scan title you choose.
Med Scan does not upload prescription images, family member profiles, or scan metadata to any remote server.
Permissions
Med Scan may request Android permissions to provide its core features:
- Camera: Used to capture prescription images.
- Storage access: Used to save, read, and manage prescription image files on your device.
Permission behavior may vary depending on your Android version. You can manage app permissions from your device settings.
How Information Is Stored
Med Scan stores app data locally on your device using local app storage and Hive databases. Prescription pages are saved as image files on local device storage. If you uninstall the app, clear app data, or delete stored files, your saved information may be removed.
Data Sharing
Med Scan does not sell, rent, or share your personal information or prescription images with third parties. The app does not include a backend service for transmitting your data.
Analytics and Advertising
Med Scan does not use advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or tracking technologies.
Children's Privacy
Med Scan is a utility app for organizing prescription scans. It is not directed to children. Family member profiles may include information about children if entered by a parent, guardian, or caregiver, and that information remains stored locally on the device.
Your Choices
You control the information stored in Med Scan. You may:
- Edit or delete family member profiles in the app.
- Delete saved scans in the app.
- Delete local image files from device storage where available.
- Clear app data or uninstall the app to remove locally stored app information from the device.
Security
Med Scan keeps your data on your device and does not transmit it to a server. You are responsible for protecting your device with appropriate security measures, such as a screen lock, device encryption, and secure backups if you use them.
